I've been doing hair since I was 18. That's almost 30 years, and it includes the punk rock years of cutting my own and my friends’ hair in my bathroom, which horrified my mother, an old school "beautician." In fact, I'm a third-generation stylist! My dad's mother, my Grandmama, was a "beautician" as well.

I've attended a virtual cornucopia of advanced education institutions and programs from the Vidal Sassoon Institute to educator training for Surface Hair Art. Hair is functional art to me! As an artist, hair is my palette, albeit quite a complex palette, in that a client's lifestyle, personality and aesthetic must be taken into consideration.  Helping people to feel good about themselves and the way they look makes my day.

The one thing that I love most about my job is that I am constantly able to learn something new. Working with such a talented crew affords me the opportunity every day to see and learn different techniques and solutions to applications of services we regularly perform and execute in the salon. Being part of an industry that is constantly changing allows us to apply new technology in the workplace on a regular basis.

Some of my best childhood memories are of growing up in a beauty shop, literally under my mother's skirt. My dad bricked in our garage and turned it into a small, two-chair "Beauty Shop."  I got into trouble for stealing wigs from my mother's shop and washing them in the bathtub with bar soap. One of my favorite summer pastimes on a hot Lubbock summer day, tan, half-naked and barefoot, was to make water art designs on the side walk with an empty Roux Fanci Tone color rinse bottle my grandmother would give me. My father told me, when I was 19 and decided to go to beauty school, that I didn't have a hope in Hell! They had ruined me before I even had a chance! Well, thank God for that!
